Audience Theories

Hypodermic Needle Theory

This Model suggests that audiences passively receive the information transmitted via a media text, without any attempt on their part to process or challenge the data.

The Two-Step Flow

This is where the information does not flow directly from the text into the minds of its Audience unmediated but is filtered through "opinion leaders" who then communicate it to their less active associates, over whom they have influence. This can be done via...

Film Institution

As a small British film, we have decided as a group to aim our film at the British  population. Following this we thought it would be relevant for our film to be distributed by a British Label, British Filming Institution (BFI). This seemed a bit cliché, therefore we decided to find a horror genre specific Company. Hammer Films seemed a perfect choice as they have a good history of horror films like Dracula, The Curse of Frankenstein and The Mummy. Even more recently they've had hits with The Resident, Wake Wood and The Woman in Black which is a film that i feel portrays the suspense and fear that we set out to find in making Witheld.

Filming

Started filming Monday, after a lot of takes we edited it down to about 10-20 seconds. Will continue filming this Monday and we hope to finish the murder scene. Getting the actresses to film the equilibrium may take longer than expected and we may run close to the deadline, thankfully editing should go smoothly and quickly unless it tries to delete itself again...

The Script

This is the script that Lela and I designed for the opening sequence of our 2/3 minute Introduction. It is for the moment that the girls get the text from "R.O.P.E.". In some ways it breaks the equilibrium as the fear of the unknown comes into play...

Introduction Preparation

These newspapers have articles about the prosecuted rapist known as "R.O.P.E." Our intro will consist of a variety of shots highlighting some key incidents from 1912, we hope this will allow the audience to get a good idea behind the story

Our Location

I especially like these two photos as they show i nice isolated area right in the middle of an urban surrounding

These photos show the location of were the girls will receive the "chain mail". It creates an equilibrium.

Horror Genre of my Film

Our film is a mix between Scream and Final Destination, as each girl gets killed one by one. This horror genre is called "Final Girl".
